Why do some Bentleys have two 12-volt batteries?

On the applicable vehicles, the starter battery can also serve as a backup when the main systems battery is flat.

What type of battery does a Bentley Continental use?
There is no single specification for every Continental. A parts listing for the 2004-2017 Continental GT, GTC and Flying Spur range identifies an 85 Ah AGM, or absorbent glass mat, main systems battery and separately lists genuine Bentley part number 000915105CE. The linked listing also offers an aftermarket battery with a different part number. Neither listing substitutes for checking the battery specified for your vehicle by VIN.
AAA notes that AGM batteries are better sealed and more resistant to heat than conventional flooded batteries. Battery type, electrical compatibility and fitment should all be confirmed before replacement.
What are the signs a Bentley battery needs attention?
Signs can include slow cranking, clicking or buzzing when starting, dim lights, or a battery warning light. Visible corrosion, a swollen battery case or an unusual sulfur-like smell also call for inspection. These symptoms do not identify which battery or component is at fault; testing is needed.

What do Florida heat and long periods of parking do to a battery?

- Check the handbook for the correct connection point, equipment and storage procedure.

Are there recalls involving Bentley battery systems?
There have been recalls affecting certain vehicles. NHTSA campaign 15V-688 concerns a battery cable connection that may be loose at the firewall. It applies to specified 2012-2014 Continental GT, 2012-2015 Continental GTC, 2012-2013 Continental Flying Spur and 2014 Flying Spur vehicles. NHTSA campaign 25V-811 concerns the high-voltage battery in certain 2023 Bentayga Hybrid vehicles.
