Source: Edmunds* With a prominent bonnet and sporting lines that flow from the front arches and speed towards the back of the car, the Flying Spur's design pays homage to the great Bentleys of history. A more upright chrome matrix radiator grille and bolder lower air intake accentuate the distinctive Bentley profile, while a revised rear bumper delivers a sleek and more balanced appearance thanks to a sporting black valance and wraparound chrome trim. At the front, beautiful chrome lamp bezels complement the highly distinctive twin headlamp signature and at the rear act to tie in the tail lamp clusters, providing an understated but elegant sign-off to the car's design. Throughout the cabin, premium leather hides and the finest wood veneers combine on every surface to give a welcoming and contemporary environment. A comprehensive range of enhanced noise reduction measures has been added to the Flying Spur's already impressive acoustic suppression technology as well. The 6.0L W12 engine is capable of 552hp and produces 479ft-lb of torque at only 1600rpm. It can propel the Flying Spur from 0-60 mph in 4.3 seconds and on to a top speed of 200mph. All-wheel drive with 40:60 front-to-rear torque split guarantees sure-footed performance, while the 8-speed transmission ensures the car is always in the optimum gear. You can also opt for the potent V8 which delivers 500hp and a 0-60 of 4.9 seconds. The Flying Spur also boasts advanced touchscreen technology. The 8-inch screen operates the car's audio system, telephone, ride and comfort settings and, of course, the very latest navigation system, which uses both an in-car hard-disc drive or DVD player to access map data. Opt for the optional Naim premium audio system featuring custom built speakers. Source: The Manufacturer Summary
The Bentley Flying Spur 4-door sedan took the 2013 model year off, but returns for 2014 in an all-new package. As before, it utilizes the same chassis as the 2-door Bentley Continental, the Flying Spur utilizes a 6.0L twin-turbo W12 engine that can output 616 horsepower and 590 lb-feet of torque. All-wheel drive is standard as is an 8-speed automatic transmission. For the new Flying Spur, Bentley has spent time fine-tuning the comfort level of the car's ride. Everything from the height-adjustable air springs to the anti-roll bars to the suspension bushings have been improved to give a softer, more compliant ride. The active suspension is driver-tunable through the availability of four settings, from Comfort to Sport mode. While the Flying Spur is quite heavy, weighing in at 5,451 lbs, it's not evident in the performance numbers. The impressive powertrain breathlessly overcomes the inertial tendencies of all that mass, with Bentley able to claim 0-60 times of 4.3 seconds. The car's top speed is rated at 200 mph. A variable displacement system attempts to keep efficiency under control, with estimates of 20 mpg highway and 12 mpg city. As would be expected in a sedan at this price, the Flying Spur comes packed with the latest in everything. The stereo itself is based around an 8-inch touchscreen with navigation and Bluetooth integrated. It's voice-activated and powers an 8-channel amiplifier and can play back just about any media out there. An optional NAIM audio system brings audiophile sound into the Bentley with an 1100-watt amplifier, dual subwoofers and a 6-dsc CD changer. The optional Multi Media Specification package adds a mind-boggling array of in-car connectivity to the Flying Spur: the rear seats get two integrated 10-inch displays and two combination DVD/SD/USB media playback devices allow passengers to watch any media they brought with them. Wireless headphones ensure they don't disturb other occupants. The seats are 10-way power-adjustable, available in an array of leather types and colors. Wood and leather trim just about every other surface. Dual-zone climate control is standard, as is remote control windows and tailgate. The options list is extensive. A Convenience Specification package adds in-car cellular service and an integrated handset, adaptive cruise control and a rearview camera. The Mulliner Driving Specification package includes leather headlining, quilted leather seats, sport pedals, 21-inch alloy wheels and Mulliner-specific trim throughout. Carbon-ceramic brakes are available and come with enlarged rotors for even more stopping ability. No fewer than 8 different wheel options are available, in sizes ranging from 19-inch through 21-inch. High-performance Pirelli P-Zero tires are included no matter the wheel. A power sunroof is optional, but can be outfitted with solar-powered fans to provide active ventilation when parked. Adaptive cruise control is available, veneered picnic tables, a refrigerated bottle cooler and various veneers options ensure the buyer's Flying Spur is like no other.
